Former-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho signed a three-year deal with underperforming Premier League giants Manchester United. The Portuguese boss has been heavily linked with the United job since being sacked by Chelsea.

Opinions seem to be divided on whether the Portuguese boss is the right man for theUnited job. The question marks over his controversial behaviour and Chelsea’s terrible performance in the first half of last season has some believing Mourinho is not the great manager once thought.

Mourinho is lauded for his ability to win the big trophies and will have the Red Devils challenging at the business end of the Premier League. They may not win the title next season, as Mourinho needs to bring his own players in, but you can guarantee that the Red Devils will be closer to top spot under the Portuguese boss.

That poor few months at Chelsea last season will make the Portuguese boss even more determined to deliver at Old Trafford. Even his giant ego must have been affected by the Blues failures last season, so he will be eager to prove his handful of critics wrong at Old Trafford.

Louis van Gaal very much failed in his task of putting United back in the race for the Premier League title. The style of football was often hard on the eye. Mourinho’s way of playing is not always attractive to watch, but he has produced some teams that have played some highly attractive football.

The more important thing is that Mourinho has produced winning teams more often than not and turned teams into challengers for the biggest trophies in the game. There seems little doubt he will do the same at Old Trafford.
